Name: Grant Krauser MPA: Bertigo Faction: Law Enforcement "You are certain that's the place?" Grant asked the fellow Keren introduced as one of her scouts. He sat on the hood of a Police Cruiser he "borrowed" from another LE Agent, lit another stick and was about to toss the used up match but thought better of it and put it in his trench coat's pocket. "I am. Our group acted as per Mistress Keren's orders and followed up on the leads we gathered from the other units. There has been a fair amount of activity around this area but we did not succeed in securing a live captive." "That's fine," Grant replied, "I doubt you'd be able to squeeze the information out of them." The scout raised an eyebrow at this, but Grant only chuckled. "It would be unwise for them to make such a careless mistake, don't you think? After that fiasco in the capital, I wouldn't be surprised if they weeded out those who would be more of a liability. It's what I would do." Grant continued then took a long drag and exhaled a stream of smoke. At this, the scout nodded and seemed to relax. A trail of stirred dust could be seen from not afar, and the pair identified them as Law Enforcement units. "Tell Keren I send my thanks," Grant said as he stood up, put out the stick on his palm and tossed it on the tray inside the cruiser as he got in the vehicle. "I'll take it from here." Shit... The old timer had just located a working terminal when Lucas started to move. It seemed that he engaged a Ranger based on the signals the PA emitted, but with all these groups together in the facility, it would be pointless to even check it out. Grant gathered what data was available and transmitted it directly to Keren. Most of it didn't mean much to him but perhaps she can put together the pieces. After the extraction, Grant immediately moved towards Lucas' last location. The young detective had decided to move independently, while the LE squads were doing a thorough and complete sweep of the building behind him. Grant looked around as one of the MP Squads turned up; the Zeta Squad that recently arrived at Washington. Grant approached them without hesitation. If they were to get to the bottom of things, going in solo would be the last option. |

"Seems we meet again, officer." Grant looked straight at the copy as it made its way towards him. He couldn't shake the feeling that there was something else behind this Bertigo. Inhuman? Possible. Grant had the Bertigo custom-built years ago and yet this copy was able to act as if his mastery of the PA was superior to his. He checked the information displayed on his HUD and confirmed that two from the LE Nemo squad survived, and that Klein ordered them to fall back. He silently cursed the brass for sending in a squad of inexperienced agents to the front where anything could happen. It was not that they were going to be a hindrance, but the fact that they took this situation lightly only increased his hatred of the system. Grant saw the HEXA from the corner of his eye as Lucas ignited a beam saber and approached his own doppelganger. The young detective was shaken earlier as he took hits while covering the Nemos but he was resilient, and Grant credited him for that. "Let's end this here," Grant declared to the Bertigo before him as he activated his own, "I don't like working overtime." He released three of his bits as he dashed towards his copy. It maybe true that this Bertigo before him has full command of its arsenal, but Grant learned long ago that it wasn't the amount that mattered, but what you can do with the least possible options. |
